1. Information we collect

• Account details: your name, phone number, email, role, and (optionally) NIN or BVN.
• Land case data: land details, coordinates, ownership history, and documents you upload (C of O, survey plans, deeds, receipts, photos).
• Usage data: basic information about how you use the platform, such as pages visited and actions taken, used for security and to improve the service.
• Payment data: when you pay, our payment partners (Paystack, Flutterwave) process your card or transfer details. We do not store your full card number.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and land case files.
• To verify documents, generate QR land identities, and process payments.
• To connect you with lawyers, surveyors, and agents you choose to engage.
• To send you important updates (verification results, receipts, support replies).
• To keep the platform secure and prevent fraud.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

3. Who can see your data

Your case files and documents are private to you by default. Information becomes visible to others only when you choose to share it, for example, activating a public QR profile, hiring a professional, or inviting someone to a mediation room. Sensitive identifiers like NIN are masked (only the last few digits are ever shown).

4. How we protect your data

• Documents are stored in a private, encrypted vault.
• Each upload gets a tamper-detection fingerprint (SHA-256).
• Access to your case files is controlled and logged.
• We use trusted infrastructure providers with strong security practices.

5. Third-party services

We rely on service providers to run PlotSur. They process data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — hosting, database, and private document storage.
• Paystack & Flutterwave — payment processing.
• Resend — email delivery.
• Dojah — identity verification: NIN/BVN lookups and selfie face-match checks when you use ID verification.
• Google (Gemini AI) — automated document screening and report analysis (see Automated analysis below).
• OpenAI — support chat assistance and backup document analysis.
• Termii — SMS and WhatsApp notification delivery.

6. Automated analysis

When you generate a verification report or upload documents for screening, we use AI services (Google Gemini, with OpenAI as a backup) to analyse case details and document images automatically. This helps flag inconsistencies and summarise potential risks. It is assistive only: automated output is not a government verification and not legal advice. For important decisions, engage a qualified lawyer or surveyor through the platform.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies are always on, they keep you signed in, maintain your session and secure the site, and cannot be switched off because the platform will not work without them. Analytics and marketing cookies are optional and only set if you consent.

When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept all, choose Essential only, or open Manage to set each category. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. We record your choice (with a date) so we honour it and can evidence it.

8. Your choices & data rights

You can view and update your profile at any time, and you can export or delete your account and personal data from your settings (note that we may keep limited records where the law requires). Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your data, and to withdraw consent, contact us to exercise them.

9. Children

PlotSur is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy occasionally. We will post the latest version here with a new date.
